How does the process work?
The process varies slightly by item, but in general, contact us by clicking a blue button to fill out a form, or email us at info@thepiecedpalette.com, and we will get right back to you. With a quick conversation (either on the phone or by email) we get an understanding of what you are looking for and will then suggest a design...our goal is to have both you and your recipient open their gift and say "WOW!"
What is the difference between a Personalized Design and a Custom Design?
We offer certain pre-designed items where we can make it personal by adding a name and/or a date. Our custom designs are from scratch - one-of-a-kind just for you.
What is the difference between a Print-Only Design and a Pieced Design?
Print-only designs are made on one piece of fabric and are two dimensional only. A Pieced Design will have different fabrics joined on the face of the pillow and/or trim on top of the pillow or around the edges.
How long does it take to get my pillow?
This depends on the type of pillow you are ordering. For Personalized Print-Only items, which use our existing designs, expect approximately 3-4 weeks completion time - rush is available on request.
Custom and Pieced Designs - More ornate pillows with multiple fabrics and trims take longer because we need to source materials that best fit the vision of the design. Similarly, pillows from invitations take extra time because we want to swatch out the color and make sure the print is crisp.
Pricing depends on the size, design, complexity and whether one or both sides of the pillow will be printed with an image.
How many colors can you print on one pillow?
Our pillows are digitially printed. They are not silkscreened. You may have as many colors as your design can hold. Please note, we approximate all metallic and neon colors.
GRADUATION PILLOW FAQS
This is a very special gift - can I find out if my student has already received one of your pillows?
Yes! We check our list and will not make two for the same student!
What are the dimensions of the pillow?
The two-sided graduation pillow is 12" x 16", is made of a high quality cotton and has a zipper closure.
May I personalize the pillow with a name or initials?
We offer personalization on the high school side only. Please click the order form on the Graduation Pillow page for pricing and information.
What is your reservation policy?/I want to order but I do not know what college/graduate school the student will attend yet.
Our graduation pillows are very popular. We recommend that you email us/fill out the form to RESERVE a pillow for your graduate as soon as possible, even if it is a year or two ahead of time. We hold all reservations, requesting a deposit in late April/early May of the graduation year. EXCEPTION - if another client requests a student you have reserved, we will immediately contact you and ask you for your deposit. At this point you may either pay the deposit or give up your reservation. We only make one pillow per student - no duplicates!
I am afraid that the student will be accepted off a waitlist after the pillow is made.
You may give a card now saying that their pillow will be ready in August - in time for their leaving for school. We can make graduation pillows year-round for any graduation year. If they are accepted off the waitlist before August, just let us know and we will make it earlier.
I think the student may transfer after freshman year.
Our policy is to replace the pillow cover for any student that transfers after their freshman year only. The student would contact us and then ship the pillow to us - we will replace the cover and ship it back. The student will be responsible for only the shipping cost - the new cover is free. THIS IS ONLY FOR TRANSFERS AFTER FRESHMAN YEAR - THIS IS NOT FOR WAITLISTS, NOR IS IT FOR STUDENTS WHO TRANSFER EARLIER OR LATER IN THEIR COLLEGE CAREER.
What about deferrals?
If you believe that your student will defer and/or change their plans due to COVID-19, we suggest you order your pillow WITHOUT a college graduation year. We cannot offer free replacements for students who elect to defer after your gift is given.
WORDCLOUD PILLOW FAQS
What is the process for ordering a wordcloud pillows?
You may either provide us all of the words yourself, or we can assist you with getting words from the family and friends of the recipient. We will check with you about color and design and send you a proof to look at before printing anything.
I want to provide the words, how do I do that?
If you are supplying the words, we ask that you provide it in a spreadsheet, a word file or in the body of an email - we want to cut and paste what you give us so we do not introduce typing errors into the process.
Can you collect the words for me?
Absolutely. We can provide you with an online form that you can send the recipient's family and friends to fill out. You would set a deadline and once it passes, we will gather the words, remove the duplicates, then check with you to make sure nothing is misspelled or inappropriate. We will discuss color and design and send you a proof to look at before printing anything. We can also contact the recipient's friends and family for you (additional charges apply) by email.
